| Breaking News | | Sunday, September 22nd, 1895: 20 Games in a Row for Bowling It has been quite a while since somebody stopped Wilson Bowling without a hit in a game. The Colts couldn't do it in today's game at Robison Field. The St. Louis Browns catcher banged out 2 hits and extended his hitting streak to 20 consecutive games in his club's 14-5 victory. W. Bowling singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This year Bowling is batting .347 with 3 home runs. | | Sunday, September 22nd, 1895: Bear Raps Chicago for 5 Hits If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Jack Bear showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Chicago Colts and helped the St. Louis Browns beat them 14-5.
The manager for the Colts told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Bear keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
J. Bear hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
For 1895 Bear is hitting .319 with 10 home runs. His stats include 103 RBIs and 83 runs scored. | | Saturday, August 31st, 1895: Burke Hurls Colts to Shutout Win Chicago pitcher James Burke put on a show today and walked away with a 1-0 shutout victory over the New York Giants, throttling them on 4 hits. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 3 and walking 2 in a strong outing.
"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."
In the 1895 season Burke has 16 wins and 20 losses and a 3.61 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
