Monday, September 16th, 1895: Staudenmaier Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 22
The Boston Beaneaters defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-2 today at South End Grounds II, but Heinie Staudenmaier's 22-game hitting string was snapped and went to the wayside. Staudenmaier went hitless in 3 at-bats.

"I enjoyed the streak," the left fielder said in a BNN interview after the game. "It's great in one way, but the day-to-day pressure to keep it going can be tough to handle, too. The main thing is we got the 'W' today. That's all that really counts."

This season Staudenmaier is batting .357 with 5 home runs. He has scored 107 runs and driven in 65.
