Monday, September 30th, 1895: Star of the Week Awarded in NL
It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Tommy Work, the St. Louis Browns 25-year-old center fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for National League Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 19 hits in 31 at-bats, compiling a .613 average with no home runs and 6 RBIs.

Currently Work is batting .332 with 4 home runs and 80 RBIs.

Tuesday, September 24th, 1895: Reds Halt Bowling's Hit Streak
His run was over, but a St. Louis victory took some of the disappointment out of Wilson Bowling losing his 21-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old catcher did not get a hit in 3 at-bats, but the Browns whipped the Cincinnati Reds 12-3 today at Robison Field.

To date Bowling has chalked up a .347 average with 3 home runs, driven in 110 runs and scored 71 times.

Sunday, September 22nd, 1895: 20 Games in a Row for Bowling
It has been quite a while since somebody stopped Wilson Bowling without a hit in a game. The Colts couldn't do it in today's game at Robison Field. The St. Louis Browns catcher banged out 2 hits and extended his hitting streak to 20 consecutive games in his club's 14-5 victory.
W. Bowling singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

This year Bowling is batting .347 with 3 home runs.
