Tommy Work, the St. Louis Browns 25-year-old center fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for National League Player of the Week honors.
He ripped 19 hits in 31 at-bats, compiling a .613 average with no home runs and 6 RBIs.
Currently Work is batting .332 with 4 home runs and 80 RBIs. |  | Tuesday, September 24th, 1895: Reds Halt Bowling's Hit Streak His run was over, but a St. Louis victory took some of the disappointment out of Wilson Bowling losing his 21-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old catcher did not get a hit in 3 at-bats, but the Browns whipped the Cincinnati Reds 12-3 today at Robison Field.
