Baseball has started again! |  | Friday, September 27th, 1895: Great Year Gets Vanlandingham WL Outstanding Hitter Award The Western League has selected its Outstanding Hitter Award for 1895 and the honor went to Ty Vanlandingham, St. Paul's fine left fielder.
He starred this season with a .426 batting average, 203 hits, 9 home runs, 81 RBIs, .493 OBP and 97 runs scored. |  | Thursday, September 26th, 1895: Best Pitcher Trophy Won by Gold Bugs Rutledge 21-year-old Chris Rutledge of the Grand Rapids Gold Bugs put together a good year in 1895 for such a young player. Rutledge was named today as the winner of the Western League Outstanding Pitcher Award.
