Tuesday, September 24th, 1895: Reds Halt Bowling's Hit Streak
His run was over, but a St. Louis victory took some of the disappointment out of Wilson Bowling losing his 21-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old catcher did not get a hit in 3 at-bats, but the Browns whipped the Cincinnati Reds 12-3 today at Robison Field.

To date Bowling has chalked up a .347 average with 3 home runs, driven in 110 runs and scored 71 times.
Wednesday, September 11th, 1895: Wade Socks it to Pirates, Cracks 5 Hits
"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," George Wade told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."

It definitely turned out well for the Cincinnati second baseman today as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats against Pittsburgh. But not so good for his team, as the Pirates took the game at League Park II in Cincinnati, whipping the Reds 15-14.

G. Wade hit a two-run triple in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This season Wade is batting .313 with 78 RBIs, 90 runs scored and 9 home runs.
Monday, September 2nd, 1895: Jenkins on Fire: 5-7 for Boston
Boston right fielder Carpetbagger Jenkins could do no wrong in today's 27-8 win over the Reds as he collected 5 hits.

"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Reds said to the press corps after the game.

Jenkins agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."

C. Jenkins flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

Thus far this season Jenkins is hitting .339 with 1 home run, 51 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He has 103 hits in 304 at-bats and has played in 78 games.
